Rather than be angry, I believe we should be very thankful that we've received the unmerited grace to know that the one true Catholic faith is pre-Vatican II.
What amazes me is how some (especially older) NO Catholics, who remember the "old ways", either tune out stories like this or, if they hear of them at all, say things like, "Yes, but my parish isn't that bad. Father So-and-So would never ride a scooter into mass or say mass on a prayer rug or [insert latest outrage here]. That stuff may happen in Germany or South America, but these are isolated incidents. Things aren't all that bad, and we're very lucky to have Father So-and-So."
I guess as long as things aren't as bad as they are elsewhere, there's no need to look at the state of the Church beyond one's parish. Just read Father's weekly paragraph in the parish bulletin, support the Bishop's Lenten Appeal, and call it a day.
I understand the trepidation that must attend the possibility of having one's faith shaken, but OTOH, not to pursue the truth, especially when the evidence for it is so abundant, runs the risk of incurring the guilt of willful (i.e., culpable) ignorance.
