The Journey to Full-Blown Apostasy Continues as Martin Praises Pope, Cupich Celebrates Abortion Supporter, and German Bishop Pushes Schism
The modernist feeding frenzy is in full swing and Catholic orthodoxy is the prey.
“Once Catholics begin seeing LGBT-identifying people as family or friends, resistance to doctrinal change collapses.” Those are the chilling words of “Fr.” James Martin, S.J., quoted in LifeSiteNews’ report on Pope Leo XIV’s recent interview with Crux Now. Martin, applauding the Pope, declared that Leo is “100% correct” that it is “a matter of changing ‘attitudes.’”
Yes, friends the modernist feeding frenzy is in full swing and Catholic orthodoxy is the prey.
Martin admits openly that the goal is not to defend Catholic doctrine but to erode it. His strategy is simple: saturate the faithful with stories, feelings, and anecdotes until they abandon the truth for sentiment. As he put it, “Nothing changes a person’s attitude to LGBTQ issues faster than their child coming out to them.”
Needless to say, this is not Catholicism. This is emotional manipulation masquerading as theology. LifeSiteNews summarized Martin’s method perfectly: “He also argued that bishops and priests have quietly changed their views after hearing relatives ‘come out’ – speaking of this in terms of a ‘conversion experience.’” In other words, lived experience becomes the new Magisterium. At this stage, this wouldn’t even pass as bad Protestantism.
And what of Pope Leo XIV? His ambiguous words are the reason Martin is frothing at the mouth like a rabid dog. Asked about doctrine, he replied: “I find it highly unlikely, certainly in the near future, that the Church’s doctrine… will change.” Highly unlikely? Near future? These are weasel words unworthy of the successor of St. Peter. LifeSiteNews rightly observed that “his repeated hints at possible change cast doubt on the unchanging nature of Catholic teaching on faith and morals.”
Contrast this with the clarity of Vatican I: “If anyone says that it is possible that at some time, given the advancement of knowledge, a sense may be assigned to the dogmas… which is different from that which the Church has understood and understands: let him be anathema.” [My emphasis]
Martin closed his commentary by urging Catholics to pray “for a change in attitude within the Church.” But the Catholic’s prayer must be the opposite. We must pray that Our Lord preserve His Bride from wolves in shepherds’ clothing, such as Martin and his ilk. For as John-Henry Westen warned, Leo’s words amount to “a very clear invitation and instruction for LGBT Catholics to work and prepare the ground for doctrinal change.”
That ground must never be ceded. The Church’s teaching on sexuality and marriage is not subject to popular vote, shifting feelings, or modernist reinterpretation. To suggest otherwise is to betray Christ Himself.
Meanwhile the Archdiocese of Chicago has once again descended into open scandal. According to InfoVaticana, Cardinal Blase Cupich plans to “honor” Democratic Senator Dick Durbin with a “lifetime achievement” award at the Keep Hope Alive Benefit 2025. The reason? His “support for immigrants.” The reality? Durbin is one of America’s most notorious “Catholic” supporters of murdering infants.
Yes, you read that correctly. The same senator who has built his career on “support for public funding of abortion and his opposition even to laws that sought to protect babies who survive attempted abortions” will be feted with a “human dignity” award in a Catholic setting.
Bishop Thomas Paprocki of Springfield minced no words:
“Honoring a politician who has actively worked to expand and entrench abortion undermines the very idea of human dignity that this award seeks to exalt.”
He added that the decision “causes confusion among the faithful” and “contradicts both the internal policy of the Archdiocese of Chicago… and the consistent teaching of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.”
Most damning of all, Paprocki reminded the public that Durbin has been barred from Communion in his home diocese since 2004 “due to his stubborn persistence in manifest grave sin.” And yet Cupich intends to present him as a champion of human dignity!
Nor is Paprocki alone. Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone publicly declared on X:
“I stand in solidarity with Bishop Thomas Paprocki of Springfield in asking Cardinal Cupich to reconsider giving Senator Durbin a lifetime achievement award […] given his long history of supporting legal abortion.”
Cordileone warned that “both doctrinal unity and clarity are at risk” and urged Catholics to speak firmly against “the grave evil of ending the lives of innocent people in the womb.”
(Pity the Pope is silent on this disgrace but he is probably too busy consolidating Francis’ atrocious legacy to have time to condemn those who participate in, and promote grand scale infanticide.)
What hypocrisy to invoke “immigrants” as a shield for honoring a man complicit in the slaughter of the unborn! As InfoVaticana observes, “the official confirmation of the event via the promotional poster adds weight to the claim that this is a public recognition granted in open contradiction to Catholic norms and principles.”
This is yet another calculated act of betrayal from Cupich. To reward an excommunicated senator—yes, Durbin is in effect excommunicated by his refusal to repent of manifest grave sin—with a “human dignity” award is to trample the sanctity of the unborn.
And if the above is not enough to make any faithful Catholic’s Monday turn a bitter blue shade, there is always a German Bishop somewhere relentlessly busy crucifying Christ’s Church.
This time it is Karl-Heinz Wiesemann, Bishop of Speyer. According to InfoVaticana Wiesemann has used his latest interview with katholisch.de to attack the very foundations of the Catholic priesthood. He calls for the abolition of mandatory celibacy, entertains the idea of ordaining women as deacons, and suggests “rethinking the priestly ministry” so that parish governance could be handed over to laypeople. In other words: dismantle the priesthood piece by piece.
Wiesemann insists that “we lose many good candidates for the priesthood because they don’t want to or can’t live celibate lives.” He claims that the “exclusive link between the priestly ministry and the obligation of celibacy should disappear.” In his view, celibacy should become merely “a voluntary option.”
But the Church has always taught that celibacy is not a bureaucratic regulation, but a spiritual treasure. As Our Lord Himself said: “There are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven. He who is able to receive this, let him receive it” (Matt. 19:12). For centuries, celibacy has borne witness to the total dedication of the priest to Christ and His Bride, the Church. To reduce it to a lifestyle choice is to betray the supernatural character of the priesthood.
The bishop goes further, suggesting that “some local Churches, such as the German Church, could follow this path without the need for it to be universal.” This is nothing less than a blueprint for schism. A German “national church” with its own doctrines and disciplines, severed from Catholic unity.
This is precisely how Protestantism was born in Germany 500 years ago. The echoes of Luther grow louder with every German episcopal interview.
Perhaps most shocking, Wiesemann asserts that the theological argument against ordaining women “has lost its force” and that “there is no absolute reason” to prevent female ordination. These words are a direct contradiction of Ordinatio Sacerdotalis (1994), which definitively declared:
“The Church has no authority whatsoever to confer priestly ordination on women.”
There is no room for debate. Yet Wiesemann and his allies defy it openly. This is not “debate”; it is rebellion.
Finally, Wiesemann complains that the priest today has been reduced “to a community manager.” He proposes stripping priests of leadership responsibilities and handing parish management to laypeople. But the problem is not that priests have too much authority — it is that bishops like Wiesemann no longer believe in the sacred character of the priesthood as an alter Christus.
Of course, these statements are not isolated. Wiesemann has already supported married priests, female deacons, and even the blessing of homosexual unions. This is not pastoral concern. It is the steady march of the German episcopate toward apostasy.
The celibate priesthood is not an outdated “discipline,” nor is the exclusion of women from Holy Orders a mere human custom. Both belong to the very structure of the Church established by Christ. To tamper with them is to tamper with the faith itself.
Bishop Wiesemann may protest that he will not place himself “outside canon law.” Yet his words already place him outside fidelity to the deposit of faith. The German Church is preparing the ground for schism — and Rome is silent as usual.
As Catholics, we must resist this rebellion with clarity. Celibacy is a treasure, the male priesthood is divine law, and no “local Church” can reinvent what Christ Himself instituted.
So, there you have it. Church destruction is hard work, but these “prelates” have raised their hands and are hell-bent on “doing their bit”.
May God have Mercy on us!
Christus vincit!
Christus regnat!
Christus imperat!
